Organic design

This gate was used to close a driveway, while allowing easy foot traffic.
The flowing, organic style is is something I've worked hard to develop, and while it's probably not to everyone's taste (is any style?) I hope you'll agree it's quite special.

More 'sculpture than gate' in nature, it's a pretty imposing and fascinating piece. Those dramatic hinges and lock-plate accentuate the door, with the window giving an inviting presence.

This is definitely one of my favorite creations.

Fabrication.
The gates were entirely hand-fabricated, in mild steel.  The picture here shows some of the detail work prior to galvanising.  It took around 1 month to make this piece, and the finished work weighed in at around 300kg.

The work was Galvanised and Powder Coated by NK Coatings prior to installation.

Design

Like much of my work, I sketched designs on paper, then enlarged them full-scale to let me fill in the space and connect sections.  It took a few weeks to finalizs a design, and I think it was worth every moment.  I think this is quite unique piece - I haven't seen anything that really compares
