Seahorse Sculpture
Project: Seahores Sculpture for Belfast Royal Academical Institution

Commission date: July 2011
Client: Steven Whalley, Whalley Gallery Holywood, County Down

In May 2011 Mr Steven Whalley, of Whalley Gallery, Holywood, was successful in his bid to design and supply a piece of sculpture for Inst, taking inspiration from the school's logo. David Dudgeon and Steven Whalley have worked together in the past and this was a good opportunity for them to do so again.
Between them they designed a maquette approximately one-fifth scale, which was fabricated in DDS, and mounted on a piece of natural stone. When the project was given the go-ahead, a full scale piece was begun. The sculpture stands approximately 2.5 metres high, and is mounted on a piece of heavy-guage round-section steel. The foundations have already been poured and groundworks completed by Strong Construction.
We will add more pictures of this Project as it progresses.
Steven can be contacted through the Whalley Gallery, or through his website, www.whalleygallery.com
